Program Excellence (#AWNPEX)
Aviation Week Network and the Program Excellence Evaluation Team will celebrate and honor programs that demonstrate excellence in execution – from commercial, space, and defense sectors around the globe. Nominations closed on March 3 and nominees will be notified September 1, 2023. The winners will be named and all finalists honored during the annual Program Excellence Awards Banquet, scheduled for Nov. 8 as part of Aviation Week’s Aerospace & Defense Programs Conference at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC.
“Each year industry leaders conduct deep dive reviews of programs nominated for the Aviation Week Program Excellence Awards,” says Joe Anselmo, senior vice president of content and editor-in-chief for Aviation Week. “These are the best of the best in terms of program execution, and the lessons learned from these programs are shared with the aerospace and defense industry overall to drive improved performance for all. It’s a unique program, and we’re honored to be able to recognize these industry leaders and facilitate sharing the lessons learned.”

Aviation Week Network’s Program Excellence Initiative
The annual program was designed by industry leaders to identify program and project management best practices and lessons learned. Aviation Week facilitates the process for these leaders, who comprise the Program Excellence Evaluation Team.
Each nomination is scored by the Evaluation Team, with finalists selected in August. The winning programs are announced at the annual Program Excellence Awards banquet, scheduled for November 8th at The Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The nominations should be based on the past three years of performance – 2019, 2020 and 2021. There are two divisions – Prime Contractor and Supplier—as well as a Special Projects category.
